
Why Ignoring Comments Is Killing Your Engagement (and How to Fix It to Build Trust + Drive Sales)
This one thing might be costing you engagement, trust, loyalty, sales, I mean the list goes on.
That is not answering comments on your post.
I see this WAY too often…🫣
What happens is if somebody comments on your post and you either don't reply or you just like it, it kind of feels very dismissive. And as a consumer, we wanna be seen, we wanna be heard, and we wanna be understood. If you aren't replying to the comments or you're just liking it, it doesn't feel like there's much connection there.
And here's the thing, too: if you comment back, you can continue the conversation. When you continue the conversation, that increases engagement. It also increases the connection too, with the person that you're talking to.
So instead of not replying or just liking it, continue the conversation, ask them further questions, and see if they need clarification. I mean, there are a lot of different things you can do to continue that conversation within the comments.
Another thing that might happen is if you don't reply or you just like these comments, that consumer might stop engaging with your content altogether because they're feeling dismissed. Even if somebody isn't necessarily asking for a reply or it's just a statement, it's still important to see how we can continue the conversation or how we can make this person feel seen, heard, or understood.
Social media is supposed to be social, even if you’re trying to sell. 🛍️ You wouldn’t leave a potential customer hanging in person would you? No way. So why would you online?📲
It’s so important that we engage with our audience (especially if they’ve taken the time to engage with us!)🚨
Plus, it gives us an opportunity to increase our engagement by continuing the conversation, thereby making MORE comments and interactions on our posts.👀
You might be thinking, “Well I always like the comments!” but that’s just not enough. 🚫
Especially in this digital world where everyone is competing for each other’s attention. ⚠️
If replying to the comment instead of just liking it makes you stand apart from your competitor, wouldn’t you do it?🤔
