Instagram’s New Reel Links Feature: How to Use It to Boost Retention and Bingeable Content
Instagram Just Shifted How We Guide Our Audience
Instagram is slowly rolling out a new feature and it is a big one.
You can now add clickable links directly to your Reels.
But there is a catch.
Right now it is only available through the Edits app and not directly inside Instagram.
And the links are limited.
They can only go to:
→ Other Reels
→ Your profile
Not external links. Not your website. Not your offer.
At least not yet.
And I do not even have this feature yet either. It is still rolling out.
But here is the thing most people are missing.
This is not about links.
This Is About Retention
Most people will look at this and think
“Okay but I cannot link my offer so what is the point?”
And then they will ignore it.
That is where they get it wrong.
Because this feature is not about sending people off the platform.
It is about keeping them on your content longer.
And when someone stays longer, watches more, and clicks deeper?
That is what builds trust.
The Real Opportunity Most People Will Miss
Right now most content works like this:
Someone watches one Reel
Maybe they like it
Maybe they move on
There is no direction.
No next step.
No journey.
But this feature changes that.
Now you can guide your audience.
You can turn:
One Reel into multiple views
One post into a connected experience
One viewer into a warmer lead
How I Would Use This Strategically
You do not need to use this on every Reel.
But when you do, it should be intentional.
Here is how to start:
1. Connect Your Content Series
If you create multi part content:
→ Link Part 2 back to Part 1
→ Link Part 3 back to Part 2
Now your content builds on itself instead of standing alone.
2. Send People to Deeper Content
Instead of trying to explain everything in one post, you can say:
“I go deeper into this here”
And link another Reel.
This makes your content feel more valuable and keeps people engaged longer.
3. Create a Content Path
Think about your intro style content.
The posts where people are just discovering you.
Now imagine linking that to:
→ What you do
→ Who you help
→ The results you create
You are building a natural flow without needing someone to leave the app.
4. Make Your Content Bingeable
This is where it gets really powerful.
Instead of hoping someone finds more of your content…
You guide them to it.
You keep them in your world longer.
And the longer someone stays, the faster trust builds.
The Creators Who Win Will Think Ahead
Most people will not use this feature strategically.
They will keep posting random content with no connection.
But the ones who grow?
They will start asking one simple question:
“If someone watches this… what should they watch next?”
That question alone will change how your content performs.
Start Thinking About This Now
Even if you do not have access yet, it is coming.
So instead of waiting, start planning:
→ What content can turn into a series
→ What posts naturally connect
→ What journey you want your audience to go on
Because when this feature hits your account, you do not want to be figuring it out.
You want to be ready.
Want Content That Actually Leads Somewhere
If your content feels random right now, this is exactly what is missing.
Every post should have a job.
Every post should lead somewhere.
That is exactly what I break down inside my Content Role Method.
It is the framework I use to help clients turn content into something that attracts, builds trust, and converts.
